“The legume of Zollino, whole, for Salento's traditional soups.”
Fava cuccia from Zollino, a traditional legume of the Lecce part of Salento: whole, skin on, for soups, side dishes and one-course meals.
Fava cuccia (Vicia faba L.) is a traditional legume of the Lecce part of Salento and a rather old native product of the Zollino area. The name “cuccìa” comes from the Greek kuamos, a term that evolved into the word used today.
The beans in this pack are whole, skin on: they are not the shelled ones. They are produced by Calò & Monte, a farm in Zollino, following the criteria of integrated farming.
It is a great product to keep in the pantry: its delicate flavour pleases every palate and, as the pack states, it contains plant protein, fibre and iron.
