Salento Housewife in Terracotta

The Massaia Salentina — the Salento housewife — is a classic piece of craftsmanship from Salento, the heel of Italy's boot in Puglia. It portrays the housewife of the old days, with curving, almost Botero-like shapes, wearing the typical clothes and apron of the time. It belongs to our collection of dolls: its bright colours and soft lines make it a lovely piece to display, to give as a gift and to collect.

Let yourself be charmed by her surprised, attentive gaze and by her full skirt just like the ones of the past, partly covered by the spotless white apron that women never took off, from early morning until late at night. A fun figure for the young, and a trip down memory lane for adults, who may recognise the gestures and looks of a grandmother: busy with the housework, or cooking hearty lunches in the big family kitchen.

The Massaia Salentina comes in two colour patterns: just tell us which one you prefer when you place your order.

Like the pumi and the palloncini, the figurine is made to order: once you order, the craftsman starts working on it, and it ships as soon as it is ready.

A little piece of life, in terracotta

The Massaia Salentina is more than just fun: for many of us, she brings back the gestures and the kitchens of the old days.
