The terracotta potato pot has one job: cooking potatoes — or chestnuts — skin on, the natural way, with no added fat or water. It is made by Ceramiche Colì in Cutrofiano, in the province of Lecce, where the craft of terracotta and majolica is a tradition dating back to 1650, handed down from generation to generation. The company is certified ISO 14001 for environmental management.

Terracotta cooks naturally and evenly, keeping the original flavours of the ingredients intact: the result is like potatoes baked in foil, ready to season with a drizzle of oil and a pinch of salt. It is a pot built to last: dishwasher safe and lead-free.

⚠️ Important, the first time only: before using it, leave the pot to soak in water for 12 hours. Also avoid sudden temperature changes: that is how the terracotta is preserved, and any crackles in the glaze are normal and do not affect its use.

How to use it

Colì oven dishes are made with lead-free glazes, for a safer kitchen. The MAR (High Resistance Majolica) trademark guarantees more than double the resistance of normal ceramics: dishwasher safe, non-toxic and usable in the microwave oven.

In impact resistance tests, carried out with a 50-gram ball, no breakage was found in drops from the maximum allowed height of 90 cm, against normal clays that already crack at 50 cm and break completely at 65 cm. Even after 16-hour wash cycles at 78 degrees with aggressive detergents, no loss of gloss was found.
