This terracotta bean pot is made for the long, gentle cooking of beans and pulses. It has a round-bellied shape, wide in the body and narrow at the top, and with its 5 litres it is ideal for cooking large quantities. Terracotta is ideal for natural cooking, keeping the original flavours of the ingredients intact, and it brings a timeless beauty to the table along with the dish. It is made to last: dishwasher safe, with lead-free glazes.

It is made by Fratelli Colì in Cutrofiano, in the province of Lecce in Puglia, where terracotta and majolica have been crafted by hand since 1650. A tradition handed down from generation to generation, with the same passion as ever, producing tableware known for its old-world charm, quality and durability.

⚠️	Important, first time only: before using it, soak the bean pot in water for 12 hours. This is what gives it a long life.

For its baking dishes the maker has chosen glazes completely free of heavy metals, so lead-free. The same glazes improve resistance to heat and stop the terracotta from absorbing odours.

The maker's MAR (High-Resistance Majolica) mark certifies greater resistance than ordinary ceramics: tableware that is dishwasher safe, non-toxic and microwave safe. The tests carried out for the mark show that it withstands wash cycles and knocks, and stays intact and shiny even after much heavy use.

Fratelli Colì holds ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system: a guarantee that the environmental side of its work is kept under control and within the law.

How do I use it the first time?
