Metiusco Bianco

From Greek: “I am inebriated”. Blend of Verdeca and Malvasia Bianca, aged in tank. The flagship white of the Palamà winery.

IGP Salento Verdeca • Malvasia Bianca Product of Italy • Contains sulphites

The Metiusco Bianco is the flagship white at Palamà — the “older brother” of the Albarossa and Ninì Palamà. A blend of two native Salentine varieties where Verdeca brings freshness and Malvasia Bianca, harvested slightly overripe, provides structure and body.

Deep straw yellow in colour, fruity and intense on the nose, fresh and dry on the palate. Perfect as an aperitif or at the table with fish.

The blend

Two varieties, one perfect balance

The combination of Verdeca and Malvasia Bianca is no coincidence: each variety brings what the other lacks.

🌿 Verdeca
A native Salentine variety with a fresh and savoury character. It gives the blend vibrancy, acidity and that minerality typical of Salentine whites.
🍇 Malvasia Bianca
Harvested slightly overripe to enhance its structure. It brings body, depth and the intense fruity aroma that characterises the Metiusco.
💡 Harvesting Malvasia Bianca slightly overripe is a deliberate choice: more concentrated sugars and aromas, more structure in the final wine. This is the step that sets the Metiusco apart from more ordinary Salentine whites.

At the table

What to pair it with

The structure of Metiusco Bianco is more assertive than a light white: it holds its own against complex preparations and is not overwhelmed by bold seafood flavours.

🦐  Fish and seafood — baked sea bass, sea bream, steamed shellfish, tuna carpaccio
🍦  Shellfish — prawns, langoustines, lobster, mussels and clams in simple preparations
🥂  Aperitif — on its own or with savoury nibbles, fresh cheeses, smoked salmon blinis

The producer

Casa Vinicola Palamà — Cutrofiano, since 1936

Casa Vinicola Palamà has been based in Cutrofiano, in the Salento, since 1936. The wines are produced from native Salentine varieties — Negroamaro, Primitivo, Verdeca and Malvasia Nera — trained on espalier or bush vines, vinified as single varieties or blends at the historic winery on Via Armando Diaz.

Ninì and his family personally tend the vineyards, the harvest and the winemaking. A direct, artisan attention that the international press and wine guides have recognised for decades.
